A boy came over for Shabbos this week adn I was so blown away with how polite he was. please and thank you were always said. he was just so aidel and kind and wow! it was so nice to see. I was able to tell that this wasnt a show! the parents definitly do some thing right as they are raising their kids.
how do you train your kids to be polite ?

Firstly, by insisting that every time they talk to you, they say please and thank you, and secondly, by YOU being polite to THEM.
and then reward them, verbally, every time they do it right.
Kids copy more what they see and hear than when we lecture to them.

It is something that is taught and enforced, example too is important but that alone is not enough.

Some children learn this lesson more quickly than others; same with everything. Just keep pressing the issue, gently but firmly.

I would say via example. And positive reinforcement.

From a very young age and I mean very young I always said please and thank you when I was giving the babies something. As they got older I always insisted that they said please and thank you and if they did not then they did not get what they wanted. When we were out I would also make sure that they said please and thank you. Now BH my children without prompting always say please and thank you. Another thing that I like my children to do is tidy up after themselves and I always make the children pick up at least a few things from the floor when we are out, if not everything.
