Getting sucked back into obsessive attention to the number on the scale. It's like OCD - I know I'm thin but if I'm not at an arbitrary number on the scale it has an irrational negative effect on me. I need to take out the batteries on that thing for a week and not think about it. Help. This shouldn't have an effect on my life when people out there have real problems.

As long as you know that this issue is in your head, not with your body. Throw out your scale if you need to.

I don't have a scale. Haven't for 8 years.
I am doing fine without it!!

I weigh myself when I find myself at someones hoe with a scale in the bathroom, or at the doctors office, probably a total of 4-6 times a year.

I need to somehow change my mindset. It's so freakin' shallow that my entire day is consumed with thoughts of exercise and food! It is completely ridiculous but I can't stop.

Are you seeing a therapist? You can be a healthy body weight, and eat really well, and still have an eating disorder. It's a mental issue, not a physical one. Please see someone who specializes in eating issues and OCD, you'll feel so much better when you can talk to someone who understands you.

Hug

PS: You are NOT shallow!
