I was thinking about you over shabbos and how you draw the line at working when your children are home. I am pretty adamant about being home which is why I work from home/telecommute almost exclusively. So I get your want and I am sympathetic, while others might not be. But I have to wonder what messages kids are picking up when they grow up in a home where no one earns a living via toil? Since there is a good chance that your hope will be dashed, perhaps contemplating this issue might leave you with a more positive view if what probably lies ahead.

This is what pushes me to work day in day out. Of course I want to take my kids off the bus. Of course I don't want to have to spend $1000s on child care and extra hours care, and nannys for the weeks there is no school. But I do because my family needs it and I know that at least my kids will have a good work ethic from this.
Both my parents and my in laws worked incredibly hard growing up and both my husband and myself have a very strong work ethic and appreciation of every dollar.

OP my suggestion is get the next job you can. Once you have an income you can plan your further education, businesses etc.

I love what SRS wrote earlier too. Couldn't be more right.

Also the message that kids pick up in a home where everything just comes to them is called entitlement. I see that too often.

Has anyone noticed that OP has come back and changed the title of the thread - so she's been back, but has yet to answer our questions or comment that she's read it?

OP - where do you live? Have you spoken to your parents at all?

woah. weird. I did not change the title, and stopped getting email updates!

I am back. Thanks for all your advice here. We are looking into a few jobs now. One is a position as a rav [just an application though, chances are low we'll get it] and entering a business idea into a contest [The contest is also giving a business course for very cheap and my husband just started it]. We are not going to be cut off in one day, but we are being put under pressure to figure this out asap. I'm thinking of putting off working for one more year until and working in a playgroup with my youngest the year after that. It's not big bucks, but it will be part time and help offset the huge numbers...

Aren't you concerned that putting off working for one more year might not be a good idea knowing you're about to be cut off?

Don't you think 75 and up is a ripoff for someone who "just takes a course" and lacks experience, background and foundational training and qualifications in education? Something doesn't sit right with me.

I agree.
I would pay this price if necessary if the provider is qualified and I see progress.
I would not pay it to anyone that just took a course and has no experience.
