I had a new hot water pot sitting in the box in my garage for almost 4 years. I wanted to start using it. The water has a bad taste. I rinsed it out many times, boiled up the water a few times and 1x even added lemon juice while the water was boiling. The water has a very bad taste no matter what I do (maybe metallic) so I am looking for advice since I can't use it. Thanks!

Try running a cycle through with vinegar? That gets rid of most gunk on my machine. You will need to run 2-3 plain water cycles afterwards to completely get rid of the vinegar smell.
