The carbon monoxide/ smoke detectors need to be replaced. There are so many to choose from, any suggestions?

I recently heard that kidde detectors can be linked, so that if one goes off, they will all ring.
That sounds like a good safety measure, but I don't know anything about it.

Get the ones that have a 10 year battery installed. Then you don't have to be busy changing the batteries.
A linked one also sounds good, but I never heard of it.

I have this one and I'm happy with it.
I actually don't like the idea of linked smoke detectors, in an emergency I'd like to know where the alarm is coming from so I know where it's safe to go instead of pandemonium in every direction...I guess it could be a good idea if the kitchen is very far from the bedroom or something, if you test it and you can't hear it go off when you're in the farthest part of the house.

From my research, the source alarm has a different something. Light? Sound? Something to indicate which is the source.
But in a house with a few floors, the ability for all alarms to be linked seems very important.
