Where can you put it, to be able to easily reach the switch on Shabbos?

I doubt anyone climbs up on a chair to reach the switch on a ceiling fixture.

Is it only usable for table or floor lamps? I dont see them used too much these days.

We have quite a few lamps. I think this would be great for that, especially for bedside tables for reading in bed.

I had the same question. Maybe the next invention will be a shabbos remote control to close those light bulbs... Wink

I can only see this being helpful in lamps.
We have 1 lamp in dd's room where this would prove helpful.
And it might be something to keep on hand for traveling to a hotel for shabbos.
Other than that...

Isn't this basically a Shabbat lamp, in light bulb form?

But out of curiosity, where do people live that they don't have lamps?

How much do these bulbs go for? In the long run, I think a Shabbos lamp with regular bulbs is probably cheaper than buying special bulbs each time, no?

In all but 2 rooms (only master bedroom and living room have lamps), I have hanging ceiling fixtures and spots.

I think so too...but some people might prefer this option aesthetically. Also easier to carry round with you...eg to take to a hotel or friends house.

We have chandeliers so no way would we buy 8 of these x2!

It's the same concept but this is a light bulb that you can use in any standard lamp.

I really don't get the point. And I am not trying to be negative, I just don't understand. Maybe I need to c a picture to get it.
Why not by an led bulb and use a kosher lamp? Why did they come out with this?

It's not a major chiddush, but it's a nice thing to have on the market and open up the monopoly. If you don't like the way the shabbos lamp looks, if it's too bulky for you to travel with, if it's too expensive for you to have in every bedroom, if your concerned about the fact that the shabbos lamp gets very hot!!, this is an alternative.
Watch the clip to understand how it works. Same as the shabbos lamp, but in bulb form.

Good niche product. We could use one of these in our sukkah. Useful for traveling too.

This is genius! Do they work on Israeli lamps, or just American ones? (Different current)

This is what the Amazon listing says:
“Multi-volt (120-277v), suitable for use in the US and internationally.”
Israel is on 220V so it should be fine from that standpoint. I don’t know whether your lamps have the same type of threads for the bulbs. Any Israelis want to weigh in from that side?
