any ideas of things to do with kids to improve fine motor skills?
I just noticed dovi having a hard time putting a cap on a pen. it takes a him a bunch of tries till he gets it.
I never thought a pen could be a helpful learning activity!

giving tzedaka
stacking cups and blocks
maybe coloring? (learning how to hold the crayon)
putting caps on bottles and lids on containers
picking up small pieces from the floor
maybe get him a toy tool set where they learn how to use a screwdriver, wrench, etc.
or those boards with holes for pegs.

Stickers! Get a pack (Ex: small circle ones) in the dollar store and let Dovi decorate a piece of paper with loads of stickers.

Watch where they stick it too. My kids used to suprise me I still have a colorful toilet seat designed w/h interesting stickers, Rolling Eyes and the a wall in my dining room..... caution buy the cheap ones or they will never come off unless you want your home to look like the churban Beis Hamikdosh and I'm talking about the whole home

Cutting with scissors is also good but just be on the watch cause kids like to cut up everything including clothing and hair. Or, kneeding play dough or challah.

Freilich, LOL -- we have stickers on our bookshelves, on the computer...

To add to the list: puzzles, shape sorters.

My three year old knows the rule in our house about stickers. They can only go on people or paper.

-give your child a bowl with clothepins and show him how to squeeze and place clothespins on rim of bowl (use all clothepins)

- transfer water from one bowl to another with baster (show how to use the baster, use sponge to wipe spills- show how to squeeze/use sponge as well if u did not)

-transfer objects (pom-pons for example) from one plate or bowl to another with pair of chopsticks

-sorting small objects (jewels for expl.) by color or by shape in tray with sections

-making necklace

-buttoning (large buttons)
-snap on

-also pouring from small pitchers (first beans, then rice, then water)
