Planning on making Renee Mullers recipe but would like to make it with brown rice. Should I precook the rice? It calls for white rice.
Thanks

Yes, use cooked rice in the mixture.

Don't bother precooking. I only use brown rice and never even considered precooking. Why would I? The whole gesheft is simmering in sauce for over an hour, longer than rice needs to cook. The whole point of the rice is to absorb some of the liquid so the meatballs don't get too soggy, . Precooking the rice would defeat the purpose.

I use brown rice. I cook it in half the amount of water by bringing it to a boil and shutting of the flame. I keep the pot covered to about 15 minutes.

I used brown rice and didn't precook it. I baked it in the oven for over 2 hours and the rice is still crunchy
