I am totally clueless but some sites seem to ask (not specifically for Jewish books) if you want to preview as a trial for free the book you are looking at. You have to sign up and give a credit card I think though in order to access free trial. Does anyone know about this? Can you really preview or read old used books online before deciding if you want to purchase?? Thanks!

It might help to post links to some of the sites you're asking about.
