I recently came across the band 8th Day, and besides sounding incredibly like Avraham Fried, (they are his nephews) they have nice songs.

Just one problem: Can anyone explain what the song Manhattan is saying?

Can't remember exactly, but I think its things that have happened in Manhattan to the musicians.

Their new CD is awesome. I love their music.

Manhattan is an older one. Brooklyn is different.

I love Brooklyn, Broken Hearts and Babaneu on the new one.

There is a concert this Sunday in S. Diego!! I can't wait!!!!

Su7, seems like you know which song I'm talking about. Do you know what they are saying there?

do you have the lyrics? Is that what you're asking about?

I think they're just "one liners" of things that happen in Manhattan.

The first CD is great but most of the lyrics make no sense at all. The new CD makes sense. I actually don't know most of the names of the songs.

Su - I am going to see them at the end of the month when they will be in NYC. Can't wait!!!

The title fits the content; I asked for an explanation of 8th Day's song Manhattan. The poll is just out of curiousity.

Didn't vote in the poll, but this morning, when I opened Imamother, I could see the poll results - which I think you can only see if you vote (correct me if I'm wrong!) - which I think means that my baby voted in the poll! Hope he voted for only Jewish music! And I hope even more that he didn't vote on Shabbos (dan me l'kaf zechus if he did!) - when we turned off the computer we clicked "shut down" and one program got stuck and didn't close and I didn't realize until after I lit that the computer had never actually shut down! And my baby loves to play with the mouse - probably b/c it's an optical mouse and has a light on it!

Thank you. I checked their website and they did have the lyrics.

My problem was the definition of one Yiddish word, and I found that now. But who knew that a "tzugis" means a "toast"?

Ok. Now I see which song Manhattan is. Nice to finally see the Yiddish words in that song. I got the rest from listening. They never put the lyrics in the CD jacket.

Mine also opened straight to poll results - I don't think it's your baby.
