Planning on starting to toilet train.
How do I teach my son to aim (while sitting) while peeing?
My husband is not helpful in this area.
My son's pnis points straight out, he hits the wall across the room. It's small, so if he pushes down it doesn't really seem to stay.
Can you please help a confused Mom?
Is he supposed to hold it down the whole time while he pees, or just push it down beforehand? How can he get it to stay?
Please be specific. I am clueless.

We have a kiddie toilet seat that goes over the regular toilet owl, and it has the front go up a bit to catch the pee. But I don't see why he can't push it down while he's peeing. Once in a while we need to do that, too.

Taught my boys to stand. We talked about keeping it clean. Ds1 liked to make a splash. I've heard of putting a waterproof sticker inside the toilet. Also a game, "sink the cheerios", float a couple in the toilet and he has to aim to hit.
There is a concept that while relieving himself, a man not to grasp himself. Using his hand to aim is fine.

This is a trick I learned on this site 10 years ago. Works like a charm.
Have boy stand on a stool in front of the toilet. Have him grasp the raised seat with two hands.
Bingo. His body is positioned just right.

I asked a mora when I was training my first son. She said sitting until much later (primary +). It would be easier to have your husband explain what they are allowed or not to touch. I personally would never (!) go forpeeing on food.

My son sits only, and holds it down with one hand the whole time. (He uses his other hand to balance) Works well for me and keeps everything inside the bowl.

Isn't the raised seat very far back? How can a little boy reach?

It will make a mess.
Psyche yourself.
When he gets older he will aim for the wall, the ceiling, the bathtub.

He should hold it down while he pees. Very simple.

It's actually not very simple. He's been pressing it forcefully instead of holding it down- and still spraying the room, despite my teaching him otherwise.
Imasinger, we actually tried your method today and it's amazing!
