Ask the people who are in the store buying them. I once got a recipe from a spanish woman in that part of the veggie section (but forgot it- sorry.)

My in-laws buy batatas all the time. They use it like sweet potatoes, they're just not as sweet, and their texture is more like a regular potato. Just cut into wedges, drizzle a bit of oil over them and bake until as well done as you like it (my in-laws like it almost crispy)

We use batatas here like sweet potatoes. They get black very very fast, as soon as you peel them so know what you're going to do with them and do it fast. Yuca we just cut up and munch on like carrot sticks. I think that's what it is. It has a radishy taste.
