I put a few eggs in a pot to boil and none had cracks. After a few minutes on the flame I checked on the eggs and I saw half of them had cracks down the side. It was not at a rolling boil (so they didn’t crack from bumping each other). Nothing leaked out that I saw. Do I need to throw them out?

Thanks!

Why would you need to throw them out? It doesn't ruin them.

I know cracked eggs are not supposed to be used (bacteria and whatnot), I’m worrying that maybe they were hairline cracks I didn’t see before boiling, and the heat caused them to expand.

No need to throw out.
Next time add a bit of baking soda to the pot before you put it up to boil. It helps with cracks.

I'm pretty sure the boiling water is going to kill any bacteria. If you're super worried, you can always wash the eggs before you put them in the pot.

I've been boiling eggs for years, never had a problem with cracked eggs, and I'm very careful with food safety.

Sometimes eggs can crack if the water heats up fast it kind of gives a 'shock' to the eggs.

That happens occasionally and I try to use the cracked ones up sooner
