If your child eats Cheerios, please be advised that Pesach cereal does not dissolve in the mouth!
When DD was 18 months, I was cleaning the kitchen for Pesach. I had her in her high chair right next to me, and she was noshing on Pesach O's. Suddenly I realized that she had stopped babblilng at me, and that the house was really quiet.
I turned around, and she was BLUE!
I snatched her out of the high chair and did the Heimlich manouever on her, and a whole piece of cereal went flying across the room.
I have never in my live been so happy to hear a toddler scream. In that moment, it was the most beautiful sound in the world. I just held her and cried for the longest time.
Please, watch your little ones with cereal! Even if they have lots of teeth in, like DD did, it can still go down the wrong pipe.

This exact thing happened to my friend's son, just to show its not that unusual. He was used to putting several in his mouth, and having them dissolve. Instead, they expanded.

Oy. I will warn people who use it. Our pesach cereal is sliced bananas.

Thanks for the reminder! And please don't offer food to children you don't know at parks etc.. There are kids that are deathly allergic to eggs, nuts etc..

Found this old post by accident and was so horrified at the thought that I'm bumping up.
Glad your little one was alright!

Thanks for bumping this up! It is so, so important.
B'H, DD is 16 now, but that still ranks as one of the scariest moments of my life. I shiver when I think about it.

Thanks so much for this warning! I was going to give to my baby next week, but I'll find something else for her to eat.
