I have no idea how to begin treating this! The creams I’ve tried aren’t really helping. Pediatrician isn’t too helpful either.

He’s never had anything like it before.
He developed such a bad case from one day to the next. He didn’t change his eating habits or anything else I can pin it on.

Any advice?!

Recently vaccinated? Could be side effect of some, per information on the vaccine insert.

Go to an allergist. Could be exposure to something.

Did he have strong antibiotics recently? Also, does it run in either family?

Any new laundry detergent or soap/shampoo? Did he wear any new clothing or use new sheets that hadn't been washed before using?

It could be a skin infection or virus and just appear similar to eczema. Why don't you run it by your pediatrician to see if you need a dermatology consult before trying diets and creams and what not.

Thanks for all replies!

No recent vaccinations, antibiotics, change of detergent or anything like that. There’s no eczema in the family either.

We already tried the pediatrician but didn’t get anywhere. The poor boy is miserable:(

Guess it’s time for an allergist. Gotta solve this mystery!

Did he have the flu? Viruses can cause eczema.

Can be caused by emotional distress. Anything going on at home/school?

What is the skin healing gemach?

Amother Crimson, I’m afraid it might be emotional. We did go through a major change lately. He doesn’t do changes well at all. I was so careful to prepare him well, and we spoke about it all the time. Maybe it wasn’t enough.

What do I do now?

My kids get horrible excema in the winter from the dry radiator heat. Humidifiers reslly could help.
Water nased creams are not helpful. Thick creams like Eucerin or Vaseline or even shortening 2-3 times a day.
Pediatricians and dermatoligists are quick to prescribe medicated cortizone or other steroid creams. Too much use is not good for the skin.
Ask pediatrician about bleach baths. 1 capful of bleach in a full bathtub. It sounds scary but it really helps kill skin bacteria. Also frequent cutting filing and cleaning of nails.
Pm for more info.

Has he been playing with slime? Sometimes that can cause skin conditions that look like eczema.

If he has had stress in his life recently, I would strongly recommend finding a competent
NAET practitioner.

Could be contact dermatitis - possible he had contact with something at school that he was sensitive too. I would go to a dermatologist before an allergist, even if it is allergic.
