Yes both. Dishwasher would be better in terms of not knocking around while washing and drying faster.

I think dishwasher gets too hot and you have a risk of melting them. I've done it in the washing machine some years, tied up in a few mesh bags, along with one or 2 big towels to cushion the machine and the toys. They came out sparkling clean, but wet. I spread them out overnight on a dry towel, and they're good to go

I'd do it in the bath tub.
And then dump onto a big towel to leave to dry.

I do it in the washing machine by filling mesh bags and pillow cases knotted tightly at the top with the toys and I add a load of laundry into the load as well so that it cushions the machine a bit. It's always worked for me. Then just spread it out on towels and allow it to air dry. Mega blocks will need more time to dry on the inside
