Time Sensitive- because I'm going today to look for dining room set.
Probably getting a custom made glass top on a few bases.

My main question is how many dining room chairs can fit around?

I like my guests to be comfortable and be able to go in and out easily.

Do you think I can fit 5 chairs on each side?
In otherwards can I fit 12 chairs?

I know it depends on how wide the chairs are, but I want dining room worthy chairs.

Possible chairs I saw on line are 20" wide

For sure 12 chairs. If you want to squish it you can probably do 12 on the sides and two armchairs at the head of the table.

I'm not understanding. I'm asking if 5 on each side is comfortable
5 on each side and 1 on each end.

If my calculations are correct it leaves 3.3" between each chair, the corners as well. Is that enough space for people to be comfortable.

I can make the table a little bigger, up to 6" more, but absolutely not more than that .

If the legs are not on the corners of the table, but rather there is a center base under the table, you should be able to fit five on each side.

I have a 109 table. It fits 10 comfortably, 12 if I squish. I think 12 should be comfortable for a 120. Hatzlocha!

It also depends on the legs of the table. If they interfere with the chairs there may only be room for 4 chairs on each side plus 2 arms chairs = 10 total.

This is a big factor. If you don't have legs at the corners you can also comfortably fit 2 on each end.

Yes I'm looking for a base in the center that doesn't block.
DH thinks we should get 132".
This means that the table will go into the livingroom space.
It's all one huge room.

I could go with smaller couches, but the room may not look proportionate
Tiny couches and huge dining room table?

If the table place also sells chairs , set up a few configurations to see what type of chair & how many works most comfortably. Diff types of chairs fit differently too.
You don't want to go overly long or wide bec then ppl might feel cut off from the other end of the table, it's harder to serve food , etc.
Just realize that a glass top requires endless cleaning to look good, gets fingerprinty, sticky & scratched easily-in case that would annoy you.

I have a 120 inch DR table with thick legs at the corners, and though we got 12 chairs to fit around it, it is quite tight and not comfortable with all 12 chairs. Having pedestals would probably make a big difference.

Are the leaves extendable? Can you get the bigger table, but only open it to the biggest when you need it? This way your room will look more proportionate.
