I have alopecia and I am almost totally bald on top of my head. I have hair on the sides and back and I have a small ponytail. B"H I cover my hair so it doesn't really bother me although I actually feel more uncomfortable about my hair than about my body in front of the mikva lady. embarrassed

My alopecia started in high school and it was really hard for me. It's very genetic in my family so every dr. we went to told me there was nothing to do. If I would not have gotten married at 20, I probably would have had to start wearing a wig before I was married because by my mid 20's there was no hairstyle that could cover up the bald spots anymore.

I have a bunch of young daughters and they all have thin hair. I am so worried about them because I don't want them to go through what I went through. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do now to prevent them from going bald like me?

I'm so sorry OP, what a tough situation. AFAIK, there's nothing to do to treat or prevent alopecia. Maybe find a specialist to talk to about prevention/treatment. God luck!

That is tough. I hope you can find something. I have don't really have anything to add. Was just quoting to highlight the typo above. 'G-d luck' sounded good.

It's autoimmune and stress makes it accelerate. Good diet is important too as high sugar and wheat is no good. I heard that there are steroid injections that can help. Speak to a specialist.

I was told to use very gentle shampoo, so my big daughter is using baby shampoo. I heard there's some sort of medication but I think it has steroids.
