I always spill out and refill water sippy cups, every 12 to 24 hours. They all develop the taste of having "sat" around for a while, unlike when the water first comes out of the tap and tastes refreshing, IMO. We don't wash water cups every day.

Do you mean a different taste, like plastic-y? Uch. Well, it's in the mail now so we will see when they arrive. Just so sick of trying countless brands and want to find something good already! Of course my son would totally rather a real adult cup, and knows how to use it, but just would make a total mess (yes I tried putting like literally 4 drops in the cup, he immediately spills it upside down unless he is really thirsty).

Yeah we change the water multiple times daily. I don't like water that's sat around either. It's a plastic taste yes. But that may be normal for sippy cups.
And yeah I feel very grateful that my child has been awesome with cups and utensils and such, not the dumper or spiller at all (G-d willing it should stay like that). Good luck- hope the cup works out for you!

Would the miracle cup be good for introducing water to a 6 month old?

I'm pretty sure it says 6 months and up. I didn't buy it until my baby was older, so I don't have experience using it with such a young baby.
