If you live in Israel and have kids in that age range, what would you want someone to send you? Looking for something that doesn't have too many pieces, can keep kids busy, not too heavy (so magnatiles are out) and preferably $50 or under.
Any ideas?

Our favorite thing to get is English books, both frum publishers (e.g. Yossi and Label) and regular classics (e.g. Make Way for Ducklings)
We recently got a few board games for that age: Bugs in the kitchen was loved by those ages. Operation wasn't as successful.
I know you said you didn't want to bring magnatiles but that was truly our all time favorite gift. It has been a few years and it is in constant use. Worth every penny and every ounce.

Thanks. I asked her relative who offered to bring it, she said magnatiles would be too heavy. Maybe playstix or something similar, that is an option for open ended play but not as heavy?
I will look into books.

English books is a great suggestion. Toys and games, even magnatiles, are widely availible here and often at reasonable prices too (definately less of a price difference than there may have been a few years ago).

Very interesting, I wouldn't have thought of books but when I mentioned it to my friend's mother she thought it would be a great idea (and a lot lighter than magnatiles). I looked up Labels for Laibel on Amazon and so many great books came up. Going to get her a few of those. Thanks everyone!

I asked my daughter what she would want and she said fresh blueberries. Wrap pint container in bubble wrap, then put in ziplock bag in your carry on. Nesia tova!

I'm not sure it's legal to bring in fresh fruit.

My 7 year old keeps requesting Grandma bring her more big packs of colored gel pens. They're great for coloring books with detailed pictures. For younger kids and this same daughter during previous years, Crayola washable markers in big packs are great.

My friend loved the books! She is reading the same three books I sent over and over and her kids love them. Thanks for the suggestions!
