I would like to make the Broccoli salad with the carrots, red onion, craisins and cashews.
can I prepare today for shabbos? also, do the nuts have to be roasted or raw?
I happen to have a homemade cesear style dressing in the fridge, (mayo, oil, vinigar, sugar, garlic, salt and some mustard) can I use that as a dressing?
thanks so much for replying

It won't be the same. The broccoli changes color and texture overnight but it is edible.
Cashews should be roasted.
When I make it with carrots the way you describe I use slivered almonds.
Otherwise I just do:
Broccoli
Purple onion (sometimes I leave the onion out)
Craisins
Roasted cashews
My dressing is:
Light mayonnaise
Mustard
Sugar
Salt
White vinegar
Drop of water
Salad tastes better after an hour of being tossed with dressing .
Ready made Caesar salad has garlic in it and I prefer broccoli salad without garlic. But I'm sure you can do it.

You can prepare it today but put in the cashews before serving so they don't get soggy

Why not toss it together today but leave off the dressing? You can dress it shortly before serving.

Steam the broccoli up to the day before but not earlier.
Keep the broccoli, dressing, and add ons all separate. Toss together before serving.

I always make broccoli salad on Thursday (though I use fresh and cook it it, might be different with frozen), I just keep all the components separate and toss together before the meal. I don't even follow a recipe anymore, I just use what I have at home.
