I already asked my rav and I got permission.
I just feel funny doing so
Background-
I’m 49 yrs old
I have mobility issues, going to pt 3x a week.
My building has 2x a week water “aerobics”
With an instructor, and it’s free.
I don’t have to travel at all since my apartment is right there.
There is an older man, in his 80s that goes with his wife.
I go with a swim skirt with leggings attached, and of course 3/4 sleeve swim skirt.
PT says it’s very good for me.

There’s just so many pros, but tznius should trump all of them

Would you go?
It really is for medical reasons for me, but I still feel funny.

My background is frum, not modern but not Kolel either.
BUT
DH, is the Rav of the community, and everyone knows us in the building
Also-
Everyone knows my mobility issue.

I have similar issues. I need to go to rehab with mixed pool use also. I feel the tznius issues because my male neighbor goes there. I am waiting for another surgery first, so mine is put off.

I plan to go as should you. Our Ravs OKed it. It is of benifit to our health.

Is there another place nearby where you can go? Maybe you would feel more comfortable if you weren't in your own building with your neighbors. Otherwise, I would just do it. You'll get used to it.

I feel for you and would also be extremely uncomfortable and hesitant.
However, you already asked your rav, you need it, you are dressing tsniusdikly, and it's mainly women except for one older man who comes with his wife. You can bring a coverup and drop it right at poolside as you go in. What about head covering? Sounds like you can make it work in a way that retains your dignity and modesty. Sounds like it makes sense for you to do this for medical reasons.
Perhaps you can refocus on gratitude that there is such an opportunity and concentrate on making it work. You already asked the shaileh that's it. G-d Willing the only way it would ever come up is to see how it helps you quickly regain and maintain your full mobility and health!

What is immodest about what you are doing? You are taking care of your health. This is a wonderful message to be sending to the people in your building.

Tznius does not trump all, health trumps all. We are supposed to value our lives and do what we can to keep our bodies healthy. You're talking about an exercise class, not a day at the beach. To me this is the same as going to a male doctor. We would never let a man see certain parts of our body on a regular day but if that's the doctor we need it's 100% fine.

You are covered in a tznius swimsuit and it’s a class not free swim.
It’s for you health.
Your Rav and DH approve.
Where is the problem?
Don’t try to be frummer than the Torah.

Op here
I appreciated all reply’s.
I just felt uncomfortable, that’s all
I know I have to
Plus it’s free
Plus it’s just outside my sliding door.
Literally, I slide my door open, walk 20-25 steps and I’m there.

Why are you second-guessing your rav? If you don't trust his scholarship, you shouldn't be asking him shailos. If you do trust his scholarship, you shouldn't be second-guessing his psak.

I’m not second guessing the psak.
I know it’s ok to go.
It’s just out of my comfort zone.
Especially when 1/2 the building are our congregants.

Your comment " tznius should trump all of them" is what people are responding to.

No doubt its uncomfortable.

My words were
“There’s just so many pros, but tznius should trump all of them”
I was talking about the convenience and that it was free.
Not that tznius trumps health

Totally normal to feel super uncomfortable especially in your situation and you are entitled to your feelings and to work them out here.
Feel good!

I did find an all ladie s class
25 min away
In the evening
The same day I do PT, very achy afterwards.
And the pool is not heated, in the building they keep it at 85 degrees. Not hot, but not cold either

Okay.

You have a list of pros. Your con is that you feel uncomfortable - for good reason. You will pscyh yourself out even more if you focus on the word tznius.

I think there's some confusion because you posted this under "halachic questions," but you already have a psak.. so it's not a halachic question. As to whether you should push yourself out of your comfort zone, that's a separate question. Why don't you ask the PT if there's an option of switching days so you can try out this other class?

So then it’s not a matter of halacha but a matter of personal preference. If you’re not comfortable using the pool in your building, go elsewhere. I don’t understand why this is even a question. All the logic in the world won’t change the way you feel.
