My dd really wants a specific piece of jewelry for her 16th birthday. It costs 150$ , and she understands that I can't pay the entire amount for it. She's ready to contribute towards it. Money is really tight. How much is reasonable that I should pay towards this? Thanx.

How much do you usually spend on a birthday present for DD?
I'm in Israel so I think in shekels. For my kids we would usually spend up to 150 shekels on a birthday present. Usually I'd try and spend less, but if it was something they really wanted, I'd spend up to 150 shekels.
So I guess translating that into dollars, I'd go for $40. That doesn't get you very far towards a $150 necklace.
But then I don't even think I'd spend $150 dollars on a piece of jewellery for a wedding, so I'm not sure how much my opinion is going to help you.

I have purchased jewelry for DD's graduations and bat mitzvah. We spend around $30 on a birthday present unless they ask for an exercise equipment, like a bike or roller blades, then we buy it.

My kids know how much we spend on presents. If they want something more expensive they will wait and combine chanukah, afikomin and birthday presents into one big gift.

You said money is tight. Reasonable is only something you can figure out for yourself. Reasonable may be zero right now.
