I looked through the threads on this already. Got some good info.

Looking specifically for hotel. Looking for cheapest option. Willing to compromise on the view. Need a suite cuz we have three kids and want to sleep separate from them but they're young so need it to be same room. Can't take two separate rooms. Clean. Within walking distance of falls.

being there 2 days. We want to do cave of hte winds but that's on the american side and hotels and all other attractions on teh canadian side. How to work the itinerary?

Any help appreicated.

U might do better off with a hotel on the American side or on Lundy's lane which is about twenty minutes away from the falls on the Canadian side. Just make sure to read reviews that it's a decent place. We were there for two days last summer and spent a lot of time on the American side. Did maid of the mist, observation deck and walking on stairs under falls ( similar to cave of the winds but free!!) And walked around the islands. Took trolley in the state park from island to island. It's beautiful there! Canadian side we just looked at the view of falls but did no attractions there. We like American side better since it's way quieter and much more shady...

I didn't realize people even stay on the american side.
Can anyone else chime in? Which attractions are on which side? Looking for an itinerary for 2-3 days.

Check out Groupon - sometimes they have hotel deals on either side. American side you will typically do better on hotel deals - but they don't have views. But typically you will save on parking and getting around. It is also less commercial and more park like.
You can also cross over as much as you as want and do activities on either side. It doesn't matter which side you sleep on.
You can also easily walk across the bridge which is free and you get very pretty views - just bring your passports along (we like doing it at night - its gorgeous, and quieter, and after a certain time parking is free right next to the bridge)

If you are driving from NY direction and want to make free stops along the way to break up the trip I recommend Letchworth State Park and Watkins Glen.

Almost all of the main attractions are on the Canadian side, and there's a reason why all the hotels, the minyan, the kosher restaurants, etc., are all on that side. You won't want to cross the border multiple times, so plan on doing Cave of the Winds (US side) either on the way in or on the way out. If your goal is a cheap suite, you won't have any view of the falls whatsoever. Check to see if there's a Country Inn and Suites, which is a nice, clean chain, that often has suites for reasonable prices.

The Embassy Suites sounds exactly what you're looking for. If you could go for a falls view. They also have cheaper rooms available with out the view or with a partial view. They give free breakfast - so you could get fruits, maybe cereal and there is a pool. It's walking distance to the shul and restaurant. (The Falls Incline Railway is right near the Embassy Suites and gives you a shortcut to the falls - it's included in the Adventure Pass)

1)We bough the Discovery Pass and did the American side in one day https://www.niagarausadiscover.....30711

2)For the Canadian falls attractions we bought the Adventure Pass and did all those attractions within 2 days. https://www.niagaraparks.com/v.....ages/

3)If you are interested in doing the Niagara Zipline - you have to book ahead of time. Try to get the earliest time slot possible because the lines are crazy. (We did the Zipline the same day we did the Canadian Falls attractions) http://niagarafalls.wildplay.c.....line/

4)Safari Niagara - this place is amazing!!!!!!!!!! There is so much to do and it's all for one entrance fee. They had a Groupon back when we went to make sure to check if they still do. If you go take lots of sunscreen and swim clothing for the Splash Pad. https://safariniagara.com/activities/

5)Bird Kingdom- we started out here the morning we did the American side attractions because it was raining. This place isn't great definitely skip if you don't like birds. The one thing my kids liked about it, is that you could go in to a cage with birds and feed them.

6)Fallsview Indoor Water Park - nice water park, my kids loved it. We did it because I had an extra day to fill. I was deciding between the water park and Marine Land but decided to do the water park because it was a really hot day.

7) Clifton Hill - it's a street full of different fun activities to do, look through the website at everything and decide what interests you or you could just go and walk around and see what looks fun. We did the 1)Skywheel 2)Ripleys Moving Theatre 3) a spooky house. We came here one day when we finished the attractions early or you could go at night. https://www.cliftonhill.com/

Also, there is a bridge between the US side and Canada side that's beautiful to walk over if it works out for you.

amother jade, we don't want to cross back and forth. Is there no minyan on the US side? If there isn't, then for sure we need to be on the Canadian side. I will make sure to check out that bridge though. Smile

doctorima, are there any other attractions on the US side? Also, thanks for the tip about Country Inn and Suites. gonna google them.

amother chocolate, thanks for all that info! I wonder if the passes are worthwhile for us because we might not have enough time to do all the included attractions and I would need to figure out the savings. Embassy suites is expensive though, from what I see, they're like at least 200/nihgt. I was hoping to find a suite for 100-150/night.

Definitely no minyan on US side, only Canadian. US side is Cave of the Winds, and you can take Maid of the Mist from either side of the border, but Cave of the Winds is all you need to do on the US side. Some people also like to drive out to the islands just above the falls and view them from above, which is also on the US side, but isn't a must.

For lodging, do you have AAA, which should get you a 10% discount? Lodging in peak summer season isn't cheap. You probably can find cheaper rooms, but the hotels will be older, farther from the falls, and not necessarily as clean. Also find out about parking; many hotels charge a lot for parking, while you may be able to get it included elsewhere to save some $.

doctorima, good point about the parking. I didn't realize that would be an issue.

chaya, doubletree doesn't allow 5 people in a room even a suite.
Any other suggestions?

Hornblower Cruise from Canada. Maid of the Mist from USA. Different companies.

Question: Can I put more people in a room than they allow? Who's gonna know? Why would it matter if two young kids are on sleeping bags on the floor?

Maybe I'm better off with an airbnb? If a hotel suite plus parking plus taxes won't come out to under 300/night, can I get cheaper than that with an airbnb? Does anyone know if there's any in the area. I'm not picky about location. main thing is fit us all, cheap, and clean. thanks!

if you try to book them online - and include 2 adults and 3 children - you are given room options.

For parking you can park in the casino for many hotels. Parking is $5 - 10 a night (If it is 5 when you park then pay immediately because if in the morning it is 10 they will charge you that rate).

I'd be careful about putting too many people in a room. Most hotels are nice about it - but not all. You can call in advance and ask (we've done that and some say NO and some say no problem).

I booked a suite in country inn and suites in niagara ontario for a total of 460 USD (plus parking plus a resort fee charged upon arrival). It's free cancellation up until 24 hours before the trip, so I didn't care to reserve it, but I'm wondering is it possible to find cheaper still?

We were in Niagra a couple of weeks ago and stayed in Wyndham Garden. It was cheap and the suite was clean and descent. Maybe check it out.
