I’ve been on imamother for many years and its just now that I’m seeing this word. Punkt. What does it mean? How is it used?

I think it's like punk. Like punk rock?
Or maybe it's short for punctured!

It sort of means what a coincidence. In the other thread the OP wrote that she just started bc and punkt her kid starting getting sick. Like it just happened to happen right at the same time.

It's a Yiddish word meaning . Exactly or on point. from the word Punktlach.
So when someone says this Punkt happened, she means it just happened exactly this time etc.

Is it related to the word “punctual”?

It means what a coincidence? Are you sure? Other poster said it means exactly.

Because people say,
Punkt when I left the house, the baby started crying.
In other words, what a coincidence that the baby started crying exactly when I left the house.
Is that explanation clearer?

Some people use it instead of the word "just".
" Just when I was leaving the house the baby began to cry"
"Punkt when I was leaving the house the baby began to cry"
Meaning "exactly when"

it doesn't mean 'what a coincidence'.
in that post - read it as - from the exact point in time when I went on BC my child got ill.

You're right. I stand corrected.
When translated into proper English, saying punkt doesn't really quite match up to the way it does in Yiddish.

And in chasidishe pronounciation we say it "pinkt."
Like Pink Fridge, only no fridge + a "t" at the end.

Not new, but I've noticed lots of yeshivish women using that word lately in conversation. I've noticed it a few times at work, on Imamother and just speaking to people.
