My phone is constantly losing gps signal, so it's unreliable for an upcoming road trip.
Does anyone have a reliable gps device I can borrow for three weeks? Y'know, the ones we used before smartphones were a thing....
I'm in Brooklyn and can pick up locally or in the city.
Or do you have tips for maintaining phone signal. I'm constantly getting message, ''Searching for GPS signal'' and does not announce directions.

There may be places that will rent you a GPS unit by the week. Some phones are known to have issues with GPS signals; google your model to see if people report having problems with it. Perhaps try to borrow a different phone that somebody's replaced and doesn't need.

Thanks for your suggestion. I prefer to use a phone, so will work on that angle.

What are you trying to achieve with the GPS?

You can go on map quest before your trip and print out directions. Not as convenient as on the spot GPS but it's reliable.

People once did manage to get places with maps :-)

We drove upstate this week and I downloaded Google directions before leaving. I keep getting, "searching for GPS signal" and many directions were delayed. It would say to turn left on Lester street after we had passed Lester street. It was super annoying and our trip took more than an hour longer than it was supposed to :-(
