There are many optometrists in Lakewood who take uhc but I haven’t found an Opthalmologist who sees children. I did find one in CHOP but there’s a 6 month wait for an appointment. I know about Pardon but she doesn’t take uhc and a visit there is over $200! Has anyone heard of a pediatric Opthalmologist in/near Lakewood who takes uhc?

Why don't you call uhc and ask them? They have lists of providers for each speciality. Your pediatrician can also usually recommend someone in network.

Yes, I think they do.... I actually took one of my kids a few years ago but we didn’t see dr. Engel. I wasn’t happy with the dr we saw, not sure if she was an optometrist or Opthalmologist... I guess I can call dr. Shaniks office and see if he recommends them- thanks

and isn't taking new patients. Its almost impossible to get in.

Dr Shanik highly recommended Dr Engel group for my daughter - traveling was a pain and had to wait for an appointment. He is more of a specialist then Dr Pardon - eventually my daughter 'graduated' from there and we switched to Dr Pardon. I saw Dr Engel himself (it was pretty amazing he found an issue in my babies eyes - who was not the patient - while we were speaking)

Do you happen to remember which dr you saw (dr Sun, dr Rousta or yet someone else) and what didn't you like about her? You could pm me if you wish.
Asking because we've been taking a few kids there.
