Any interesting places to stop on the way from Montreal to Monsey with kids ages 5 to 10?

Ausable Chasm and Lake George are both options. A little off the highway is Howe's Caverns, which is a cool cave with a lake that you go onto in a boat ride. There's also Lake Placid.

Saratoga Springs. Bring cups or water bottles. You can walk around the town and taste the water from the various springs.

What about places for younger kids ages 2-8?

Any other fun places besides Lake George where kids can let out their energy - like a park with a playground and swings, or something indoors similar to Kids n Action?

Preferably something halfway between Brooklyn and Lake George.

We are stopping at 3 places on the way to Montreal:

Fish hatchery (for picnic lunch) : https://www.tripadvisor.com/At......html

Star Trek Exhibit: https://www.tripadvisor.com/At......html

Waterfall: https://www.tripadvisor.com/At......html

I highly recommend tripadvisor because you can see activities along your route. Then you can read reviews and see if you would like it.

Thank you. Going to try the trip advisor.

Seems Fish hatchery has a playground. Will check that out.

Loved Ausable Chasm. We did it a few times, and with very young children. Baby in a carrier. But it was scary. Kids were good walkers. As long as baby fit in life jacket they let us do the raft trick back.

One year did a ferry to Vermont - was relaxing break from trip. Did it walking round trip. Had time to just walk around a bit and then take it back.

I forgot about Magic Forest. When my kids were younger they loved that place. We must have stopped there 3 -4 years in a row. (they knew the magic tricks by heart in the end)
