It really depends on the area. Dh looked into it and signed up but ended up making more working with the local car service.
It is a wonderful choice for in between jobs.

Also, check into the business model of it. I do not know anything about uber or lyft. We looked into driving Lakeway (car service in Lakewood) at one point. We were told that each driver is their own counter who has to pay Lakeway a fee or percentage of their money. BUT you file as self employed and end up paying a tremendous amount in taxes (like 30%). That made it less desirable for us.
