Im trying to help my friend get the right diagnoses for her teenage daughter. Since she was around 7 she has shown signs of anxiety , fears ..... She has tried to get her help here and there some therapy nothing very consistent but now that shes 15 and those symptoms only got worse. My friend heard about pandas, lyme... That can have similar symptoms so she had her daughter bloodtested by an infections disease doctor and she was positive for mycoplasma and bartonella all co infections of lyme. My question is are these all real things instead of just suffering from anxiety? Anyone have expérience with these infections?

Lyme disease is very real. But it needs to be treated simultaneously on both ends - the lyme infection needs to be treated physically ASAP by a specialist MD - and the anxiety and fears need to be treated with a therapist trained in that area so she learns coping skills on how to deal with the anxiety now, no matter what the original cause is of the anxiety.

I had mycoplasma when pregnant - I was so, so, so ill. I thought it was some kind of hormone depression thing - not only anxiety but very low energy, depressed, crying all the time, even suicidal thoughts. Until I got to the right doctor who ran a huge battery of every test under the sun - he found this and got me the right antibiotic. It was a miracle. Ten days later I was cooking supper! I was getting dressed in the morning! I was able to smile! Ok, so still quite low energy but hey - three months pregnant and having had this infection? All the depression symptoms disappeared.
