Once a couple brought a gift so extravagant it was out of place. It was basically the fanciest gift box I've ever seen (I kept it because I couldn't recycle something so gorgeous) and she included so many smaller gifts with it it, it was crazy. It was all just a thank you for one meal.
On the other end of the spectrum are the young married couples who bring nothing and just sit there while I serve them.
But I always remember the one student who wrote me a thank you note after the yuntif meal she came to. A very sweet thank you that came in the mail a few days later. That was my most appreciated "gift."
