1. Typical yeshivish lakewood boy - before going to eretz yisroel, how many years would he learn post-high school in a beis medrash? Is it the same for e/o or does this vary?

2. What month is the typical for boys to go up to an eretz yisroel yeshiva? Do they go starting pesach time or do they go at the beginning of the school year?

3. When do boys typically come back from eretz yisroel and start bmg - again, is it pesach time or another month/time...

4. Can you explain bmg freezer, including months/times...

THANKS!!

1. Approximately 2.5 - 3 yrs, sometimes a drop more
2. Pesach, Elul or after Sukkos
3. beginning of any zman. BMG does not accept new bochurim for Elul, so some come back for Elul and go to a different yeshiva until Cheshvan and some stay in E"Y until after Y"K and then come back.
4. Freezer = no dating from the beginning of the zman until Tu B'shvat (winter zman) or shiva asur b'tamuz (summer zman). The exception is that if a boy went out before the zman started he can continue dating that girl until they get engaged or break up.

20 or 21 is the average age. (it can depend on how happy the boy is in the yeshiva he's in before EY or on his maturity and if his parents feel comfortable sending him off alone... Or just when his friends go. Boys usually like going together with a few friends...)

Most boys go to E"Y anywhere from Pesach (spring) of 3rd year beis medrash - Pesach of 4th year beis medrash (with some leaving in between after Sukkos of 4th year). They usually stay somewhere between 1-2 years, depending on family background, how happy they are in E"Y, and how old they were when they went (if they go earlier, they're more likely to stay longer). They then come back to BMG after either Pesach or Sukkos; as noted above, BMG doesn't accept new bochurim for Elul zman.
