Please don't use shattered glass.
But the house has to be mouse proofed and all holes closed up fully. Underside of cabinets, near all pipes, under sinks and behind appliances. All appliances have to be disconnected, moved and holes closed up.

I'd debate the word easiest. Most effective, perhaps.

My worry re the professional company my building uses is that they say the put out poison, the mouse (mice!?!?) eat it, go off and die. What if they die in the places they've been hiding? Do I then have dead mice in my walls, closet or radiator?

Who remembers this in shemos?
A mouse give birth to six at a time. So there are more then one. Steel wool. We had those machines that we plugged into the wall but I am not so sure they help anymore. Rat poison is the best and traps.

Op, the company I used did not put out poison. They covered all holes with tin.

If I let my building handle it, poison is the method they use. I suppose that the Co would not still be in business if their work resulted in home filled with decaying mice, but the process makes me uneasy.

We closed all the holes and used these traps that were disposable and closed so you didn't have to see or touch anything. Worked for us but that was because the mice didn't live in our apt, they came from our neighbors

So it''s a month later and I had the building''s exterminator, who plugged up a hole with steel wool. After that didn't work I tried humane traps, snap traps, and traps with poison inside. IT''S STILL HERE, although possibly not full time since we only see it every week or so.

Any ideas???

We had a mouse problem in our old house and had to call the pest control company to come several times before they found and sealed all the holes.

Hi. OP here. The mouse is still around off and on. It will seem.to be gone for weeks and then appear again. It's not interested in peanut butter cups, or any other bait I've tried and my super says he blocked the hole in/out. But every few weeks, there he is.

One more thing --when we see him it's always Friday night. My theory is that the house is full of nice cooking smells on Friday and that attracts it, while during the week when I am making quicker meals the smell isn't as pervasive.

Any ideas?

Call a specialist and have him trap the mice if you are not in NYC. If you're in NYC then call a specialist to mouse proof your home/apt.

I am in NY. My building has sent an exterminator twice to no avail. I would be glad to get my own if someone has a recommendation for one that's really good.

It's OP, back again. Yes, this has been going on FOR FIVE MONTHS! DD just told me that the mouse very clearly got into her school bag last night, where she had a sealed granola bar. The wrapping was shredded she says. She is trying now to think of a way to disinfect notebooks, a wallet and the bag itself. The building has been completely ineffective. They sent and exterminator again and boutique a week and a half ago ago; this is the result. Frantic.
