Can someone please help me figure out what's inside my 8 year old sons head. I asked and he didn't have an answer. Yesterday I sent him to school with a wrapped present for a boy because we didn't give him anything by his birthday party. The boy wasn't there, so my son opened the present up. He knew exactly what it was. It was bought before rosh hashana and he kept looking at it until I finally wrapped it motzei yom tov.
When we were going home yesterday he said he opened it. I though he meant a little of the wrapper. This morning, I saw he opened it completely and threw part of the box in the garbage. It was a beyblade and all the parts are there. He said he didn't use it, so that's good. I told him to give it to him like that and tell him he opened it, meaning it's new. I'm so annoyed with him. He didn't have answer when I asked him why he did it. Any ideas?

Cause he’s 8 and he had a new toy in his bag and the boy he was supposed to give it to wasn’t there. So why shouldn’t he get to use it or show it to his friends.
Typical behavior not sure why your overthinking this

Exactly.
Your expectations weren't so realistic.
An 8 year old girl might have done what you expected. Might. Not so much an 8 year old boy.
Praise him for not having used it, rewrap, and offer a reward for delivering it without further ado.
The other boy probably could care less about the packaging, anyway. He's a boy.
Vive la difference.

Except he actually has the same exact thing at home. He also opened it up completely, he took it out of the package. It wasn't a box.
