I would replace with handles and not knobs. Personally, I like the look better.
But also, when you're older, if you develop arthritis, handles are much easier to turn. Knobs can be painful for arthritic hands to grip.
No harm in planning for the future, right?

If you have little kids knobs are the best. They other kind the kids learn in a day how to open them. I'm getting knobs. There are some very decorative ones out there today.

I'm with Perquackey (we ducks must think alike). Levers are easier for older or less agile hands. I like the look better too.

The levers not knobs, are also good if you don't want to touch handles because of germs, especially in bathrooms in other people's houses.

I like the look of handles, but I'm too practical to get them. I need to be able to close a door and know that my toddler can't get in, hence we have knobs. I too like the crystal ones.

If you have little kids who tend to run into doors, knobs are safer IMO.

Standard Israeli apartments have handles and they drive me crazy.
Little kids open them easily and they also hurt if you bump into them. I don't know if I'm extra clumsy, but I always bump into my door handles!
In my previous apartment, we had round doorknobs and I loved them.

Whatever you decide, make sure to get push button locks.

Re the bolded: why? I’m also renovating now and would like to know.

How do you open a door that has a lever without you touching it?

They are great if you have full hands like I often do. You can open them with the side of your hand while holding items in both hands. You don't have to juggle things to grip them.

These are great for a busy homemaker.
