Ds finally has a diagnosis and is in a special school for his needs. (Adhd, intermittent explosive disorder etc)
The school has a psychologist on staff but she is mainly there for social behaviours.
He needs to see therapy outside school, and the psychiatrist thinks an in home therapist would be best.

We have difficult dynamics between him and some other kids, and she feels this way will be most beneficial.

However, I can't find a good in home behavioral therapist.
The psychiatrist gave me 1 agency, but the therapist they sent was not a good fit; agency now says she has no one else.
The pediatrician has no recommendations.
And neither does the school psychologist.

I do not want to go via Jfs, and Perform care had no one to send me either.

I'm really desperate to help sort out his behavior. Can anyone recommend a good in home behavioral therapist in north NJ.
Thanks!

I cant offer you a rec for a therapist since I dont live in your area but for my son with ADHD I found the method in the book the Explosive Child to be so so helpful. Our home is a significantly calmer place now and I have a great relationship with him. You can access a lot of the information at www.livesinthebalance.org

Thank you for the idea. However it's not just for this child (otherwise regular therapy would help). It's also to modify the dynamics between him and the other kids.

You can try the In Home Parent Coach. This is the kind of situation they deal with. Look on the website for the array of services provided.

I believe LCSW. For verification, take a look at their website, credentials are listed. The owner, Jason Johnson, used to work at JFS and he was supposed to be very good.

I will look them up, a bcba might work. I'm not totally sure.
ETA, none of the issues they list on their site is what my child has.
They seem more autism/asd focused.

I didn’t know that you can get a therapist to come to the house.
I’m dealing with the same issue and went through preform care- they were the only ones who came to our house
It was for 3 months at a time but we were able to renew it a few times so we had help for close to a year.
Does your insurance cover this?
Btw- I was told that kids like this can actually fall into the spectrum of autism even though they do not have an autistic diagnosis. Find out if you can have him listed as “on the spectrum “.
Also preform care sent frum social workers which I felt was important and they took Jersey care which is the insurance my kids have.
Good luck

Ruby my insurance doesn't cover mental health at all.
His evaluation clearly shows he isn't autistic.
I called perform care previously and got no where w them. Took weeks to get a call from an agency in south Jersey which was way too far for me.

I had the same experience with Perform Care (although the social workers they sent weren't frum, not that I requested that). I know you said Perform Care didn't work for you-did they not send someone to your house or was the person they sent not a good match?

If you call him, he might be able to recommend someone in your area
