My DH and I have different ideas of how to parent our toddler. A lot of this comes from different understanding about how much a child his age can be expected to respond to discipline.
I am looking for some practical parenting books. Any suggestions?

I bought the book "how to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk", when my DS was 2 1/2. It was eye opening, $10 on Amazon and every bit worth it

123 Magic is great for discipling toddlers. Lots of preschool teachers use it too.

I have a strong dislike for the method promoted in 123 Magic. I felt it didn't take into account the child's emotional needs and connection with the child. I tried it for a short time and it escalated the issues instead of resolving them.
I HIGHLY recommend the How to Talk so Kids will Listen series.

Joyful Toddlers and Preschoolers
It's a real gem that balances connection and boundaries in a very age appropriate way

another vote for the how to talk so kids will listen book, it's my lifeline - I actually keep it in my bathroom! another book by the same authors is 'siblings without rivalry' which has amazing down to earth methods that totally work when your kids fight.
