hi,

Was wondering if anyone can help me out here.
I send to a school in flatbush and my daughters bus stop is 4 blocks away from me.
I keep calling the school to try to get a closer stop and they keep telling me that as long as its within 5 blocks they dont need to add another stop.
is this true? did anyone hear of this?
I dont know anyone who has to walk 4 blocks to their bus stop.
my daughter is 6 years old.
also, is there a law that if kids get home late after a certain time they need to stop on the corner?
what can I do at this time?
school is district 21 I believe

Yes that is the law and I do know people who walk that far. In terms of the later hours, I'm not sure if the school has to sign up for that in order for that to happen

Regarding 4pm, find out if your school is receiving funding for bus service to student corners on the way home. If they're being funded, but not passing that on to you for your child's safety, that's a big problem.

https://www.nysenate.gov/newsr.....elder’s-workshop-highlights-success-transportation-law

"New York State Legislature passed Senator Felder’s historic legislation, which provides an increased level of safety and protection for New York City children in grades K-6. Under the new law, any public, private or parochial school that holds academic classes from 9:30 A.M. or earlier until 4:00 P.M. or later, is now eligible to receive pick-up and drop-off bus service within 600 feet of the child’s home."
