A most unwelcome guest
resides* in babys trach & chest
he's being evicted.
Oh yes,
Serratia go away
in my baby you have no business 2 stay
tracheitis move from this airway **

(sorry for the immature sounding of this little ditty, but this ran through my head while trying to sleep & being interrupted by monitor alarming desats)

*moved in?
**originally I wanted to say- goodbye & don't have a good day Wink

The monitor traces the beat
IV taped on so neat
Sats get checked again
Doctor clucking mother hen
Beeping punctuation
Keeping awake the nurses' station
Next vital checking soon
Baby, do you get the tune?
Breathe now very steady
We want you home already!
The song is saying, "Fight!
Refuah Sheleimah, Zeeskeit!"

Wishing baby a Refuah Sheleimah Ukrovah, and his/her mommy lots of Menuchas Hanefesh and nachas! Please take care of yourself too. Heart

B"H only for short terms - RSV, newborn tachypnea. Enough education for a lifetime though!

I hope you're back at home with a healthy baby!

They did NOTHING for the tachypnea. Not that there is anything to be done...

Well, they put baby on antibiotics just in case until the X-ray and blood work came back. And said npo until breathing gets more normal so put in an IV for fluids and nutrition. And put us on a NICU unit (not actual NICU) for monitoring.

B"H all resolved on its own, just stressful!

Glad to hear you're home, I'm sorry that this seems more long term for you!

baby's been intermittently tachypnic ever since newborn. nothing was ever done either. dr said that often even after full invasive tests done it will show just that- that baby breathes fast...
downside to it is that she burns her calories like crazy and we need her to gain more weight for proper treatment. I'm used to her high RR by now but every time were in the hospital they come running & I calm them down that this is her 'normal'.
baby has a chronic condition that is b'h stable but she had a rough summer with many other things going on.
