I had a good experience with Turkish Airlines but I would always choose a direct flight if I could. Especially with kids.

Any stopover will be longer than direct. it was about 9 1/4 hours to moscow and 4 1/4 hours from moscow to israel. And about half the price of direct flights.
Nodea where they fly from. We looked at 4 or 6 different airports, and jfk was the best optionfor us (financially)

I had HORRIFIC experience with United: no leg room at all, obnoxious to DD, yelled at me every time she moved - and she was under 2. There was so little legroom that there was barely room on my lap for her, and none if the seat in front leaned back or the tray was open. I had mixed experiences with British. My best overall is always El AL, especially with kids of any ages. You can see they're Jewish because they actually like them!

I believe you have to pay quite a lot for the checked in luggage and food on Norwegian. So it might not be cheaper in the end. My son took it to Europe. The flight itself was nice.
