Is the word burp vulgar like fart? why?

why is using the word burp ok, but fart not? or is burp not ok? Belch is to burp as passing gas is to fart, but why is fart worse than burp? ETA- vocab word wise- like using the word in front of others?

To me it’s like the difference between pee and, say, p*ss. One is pretty mainstream for describing a bodily function and one is unrefined, etc.
