MY 17 month old hit a stage where he needs to see everything I am doing in the kitchen. When he sees me at the counter, he comes running for me to hold him so he can see. I tried a chair, but he ended up falling off (even while I was standing right there.) Any ideas?
(This morning, dh tried to hold him while I prepared supper but he only wanted me to hold him... not possible while slicing an onion:) )

Thanks!

I taught my toddler to bring over a kitchen chAir and stand by the counter. They love to “help”. My toddler makes potato kugal like a pro by now.

My toddler is the same way. I let her stand on a stool next to me so she can "help" me cook.

My kids sit on the counter to watch me. When they're younger I put them all the way in the back and stand close by. Once they get older they sit on the edge. They love being high up and love watching me and 'helping'!!

A kitchen chair works for us, but if your kid keeps falling off, then you can try a Montessori learning tower:

Basically it's a stepstool with a waist-high fence so they can't tumble off.

I let them stand on a step stool and help. If they hinder me in any way I put tee step stool away its an effective consequence
