Has anyone tried making a beef-and-cabbage soup in the crockpot for Shabbos afternoon?
I'm nervous the cabbage will turn bitter, or else just fall apart into yuckiness.
In general, any advice about adapting normal soup recipes for super-slow cooking now that the time between Erev Shabbos and Shabbos lunch is getting longer

Cabbage turns very slimy and bitter when it's overcooked, or cooked on too high a heat.
I would serve it Friday night, and serve something else for lunch. Toss the cabbage in at the last minute before lighting, so it stays fresh and tasty.
