It's been in the fridge all week. Smells fine. If I boil it really well?

I wouldn't. I'd say you can use it for the week but not beyond. It will be more than a week already

I have a very good fridge and do it regularly. Make chicken soup on Friday for Shabbat, keep in fridge all week and reheat for next Shabbat. No one ever got ill.

I do this every week. I keep it in the back of my fridge where it's extra cold and it is fine. We have never had a problem.

That sounds scarier to me than raw eggs. We never touch leftover shabbos food past tuesday.

Normally I freeze leftovers and then reheat next week. I'd look askance at any cooked food which sat longer than 3 days in the fridge, but other posters say its fine...

My deadline for reheating/eating cooked food is 3-4 days.
Dh eats stuff up to a week old.
I always say that he's the man with the stomach made of steel.
On the other hand, if it's in the freezer instead of fridge, it stays good for weeks, so if I really want to keep it, I just freeze it.

It might not be spoiled, but it loses its potency & has a diff taste at end of week. We don't do shabbos leftovers after Monday. Why don't you ball jar it straight from pot when hot or freeze it right away before reheating?

To those who say they do this regularly/ every week — why don’t you just freeze it already?
OP, clearly people are doing this and living to tell about it. Personally, I would not. I agree it sounds scarier than raw eggs.

No. I wouldn't. On the second day yom tov I served my kids chicken soup I had made for shabbos and they said it tasted funny.
I guess it could be ok if it was in a really cold fridge...but I wouldn't risk it.

This week, by mistake, I leftover baked chicken outside, so I googled how long cooked food can stay outside. The guidelines they gave were: Cooked food can't stay out longer than 2 hrs in room temp. & refrigerated cooked food no longer than 3 days. They say even if food not spoiled or rotten yet, it becomes a danger zone when bacteria like E Coli, salmonella starts growing, which u can't rely on smell or taste because these bacterias have no smell or taste. Especially the immunocompromised, pregnant women or children are more susceptible & it's more dangerous for them. I ended up dumping a whole pan of baked chicken with veggies that stayed outside overnight, even though it smelled fine.....didn't want to take any chances & risk it.

I've been reheating and eating chicken soup for more years than most of you have been alive and my entire family is still alive and well.
Why don't I put it in the freezer? Sometimes no room, sometimes don't have a good freezer container, sometimes I'm just lazy.
But if it makes you nervous don't do it.

If it's in a sealed ball jar & in back of fridge then it shoud be fine.

Whatever is in back of my fridge gets totally or partially frozen then things hold longer.
It also depends how often you open the fridge & how packed it is
