So many people are claiming that diseases have died out because of good hygiene...
So does that mean all the anti-vaxxers who have been hit with the measles don't wash their hands?
(Totally tongue-in-cheek, btw.)

Nobody said MEASLES died out because of better hygiene, it is measles DEATHS which dramatically dropped.

Meaning, if I wash my hands when I have a fever, my fever will go away?

Oooh! you're on to something!
I think I've got the cure to cancer. keep our hands in a purell bottle all day?
the antivaxxers don't believe in antibacterial soap bec of all the bad rap it got recently. that is why they were hit with it . they gotta use essential oils to wash.

Do you trust the FDA? They also say that regular soap is just fine, you don't need antibacterial.
https://www.fda.gov/ForConsume.....3.htm
See, just because it's not what you're used to hearing, doesn't mean it's WRONG. Most antivaxers aren't anti-establishment, they are pro-science. And science means critical thinking, and re-examining hypotheses in the face of actual evidence.
Using the term "hygiene" does not mean that washing your hands removes illness. It means that overall health improves along with greater hygiene levels, and therefore most people are more resilient to common illnesses and childhood diseases.
Additionally, medicine has improved over the years to allow treatments for things like pneumonia and infections.
But really, if it's easier to believe that measles kills 1 out of every 500 otherwise healthy individuals (it's 1-2 out of 10,000), that antibacterial soap is better than regular (see the link above, it's a marketing trick as per the FDA), and that vaccines are totally harmless and anyone who says otherwise is a quack... well then I'm not sure who is more irresponsible and uninformed. (And I do think that pretty much everyone should be vaccinating.)

My haunches up, I scanned the board, prepared to pounce with zeal
Attack the brazen WRONG of the internet, denying what is real.
To right the wrongs, make clear the facts, and with linguistic fluidity
Exhort all to take a second look! See the other side’s validity!
I crafted an incisive, indignant post, part of my sacred mission
Meant to silence the naysayers into cowed submission
And only later, regretfully, did I see that I misspoke
For that whole thread, in all its threat, was meant to be a joke.
So yet again, at the banquet of intelligent debate sat I
Scooping up forkful after forkful of fresh-baked humble pie.
