Do you know anyone who went OTD learning in EY without parental supervision?
Are the boys well supervised?
Do they change heskofers often?
Please tell me a typical schedule of vacations. How often do they fly home?
How often is normal to fly out there?

There are many many different learning programs for boys in EY. The answers to all of your questions would depend on the program.

Do you know anyone who lives near his school, or commuting distance? If he had a "foster family" to connect with, it would help keep him grounded.
I think the benefits of learning in EY outweigh the risks. If he's going to get in trouble, better to do it where he's surrounded by rabbis who care, than somewhere else.
There's no way to predict what boys (or girls) will do away from home, so all we can do is research, and then daven our hearts out.
Hashem should protect all our children, and draw them closer.
