I used to toss clothing that didn't fit but it got too expensive . I hate how crowded my closet is and don't have a basement to store it in. Any advice?

Pack clothes that don’t fit into lidded cartons like those copier paper comes in and stash them on the closet floor, on an upper shelf, or under your bed. Or hang several garments on one hanger and put them at the furthest reaches of the closet and keep what fits now in the most accessible spot.
You can make size-indicator rings like the ones in dress shops by cutting center holes in plastic lids of coffee cans and the like. Cut a slit in each, mark each with a size, and slip over the closet rod.Hang your clothes in size order.
