I would like to just go and chill in that area for a bit with dh.

Any good ideas?

How far is the hotel from the boardwalk?
Is the hotel a beautiful place to just hang around?
any really really good restaurants with a good hechsher?
any other ideas?

there are kosher restaurants nearby. I wouldn't call any of them really really good but some are good.

The hotel is on the water. The hotel is not particularly gorgeous imo.

656 is expensive. The service is very mediocre imo (we literally waited for over an hour once for our check and the restaurant was empty) and the food is nothing special. They have a bar part of the restaurant called Stingers which is noisier and cheaper. I've never been there.
There's also Butcher's Steakhouse which I ate at once and had a nice time. It's an Israeli style steakhouse. Also more expensive.
Dougies, Chang Mao, Crispy Chicken and Balagan are more mid range.
Dougies is fantastic food and imo the best meat place Deal has. They have waiter service but are also family friendly so it's not very upscale.
Chang Mao has a reputation of not being so careful with cleanliness (I heard from more than 1 person who worked there). My sister once found a hair in the her food there and they didn't care about it at all. It's typical chinese fare. More upscale than Dougies.
Crispy Chicken and Balagan are more like takeout places. I've never been there so can't comment.

Dairy: There's a bagel store (no seating, not yoshon if that matters), pizza store and also a cafe called the Diet Gourmet which I was told is excellent. Not everything in the Diet Gourmet is CY but most items are. There's also the Chocolate Soda but I didn't have a good meal there and it's always loud and full of teenagers.

There's a dairy CS donut place that also has vegan/gluten free donuts called Broadstreet Dough and Co. People rave about it. I never tried it.
