All my illusions have broken
Upon your gorgeous rhymes:
Unknown woman, you’ve awoken
A sense of beautiful people’s crimes
Their wrongs against you are plenty
Their hearts are as cold as ice
They took you when you were twenty
Your love - how could it suffice?

They brought you to a strange new land
Then left you all alone,
Promised to hold your heart and hand,
Indifferently turned to stone.
They do not remember your heartache
They are utterly blind to your fears
They spit on your long-held heartbreak
They laugh at the thought of your tears

Their lives are sweet and pleasant
Their house is enormous and rich
To them you are only a peasant
To them you are clearly a witch
They do not see the white bones
Upon which they built their love
And forget their happy years are loans
Granted from heaven above

But you, oh unknown lady,
Your verses reached my soul!
You’ve shown the dark and shady
Underbelly of the role
They play quite to perfection,
To thunderous applause:
On facebook a sweet confection,
In real life teeth and claws.
Your words brought to painful life
The reality of their betrayal;
Though with injustice the world is rife,
Your verses shall prevail.

This is beautiful, sequoia.

It begged me to read it out loud so I could feel the words with my lips and tongue and teeth.
The images you’ve painted are so visceral yet atmospheric at the same time.

Wow

No one on here.

A woman who was betrayed and expressed her feelings in beautiful, talented, multi-lingual poems that really resonated with me.

No, that would be a violation of privacy.
