My son wants his own Mp3 player/iPod to listen to music. I want something that's high quality and won't break in a day. I also need it to be able to be "kosherized" by TAG. I don't want him to have wifi, radio, etc. Any suggestions?

iPods are harder to block WiFi from, unless it’s a nano. But they are overpriced and more complicated to put music onto, so I would go with an mp3

Many Sansa clips have radio of you care.
Some you can disable (tag will do it or you can find directions online) and some just have an enable/disable setting that is not locked.
Sansa used to also make a model that recorded but I don’t see it anymore.
We’ve had a few and I’ve been happy with them.
